The waist is tight and the rest of the pant is flowy. It took me a moment to get the button done but because it is high waisted, I didn't get a muffing top and the pants were flattering. I also didn't have to keep pulling them up which is nice. These are true to size and if you are between sizes, go up since the waist band can be tightened but not loosened. These pants are worth buying! They are luxurious and look fantastic with heels and flip flops. I am 5'2"" and both petite and regular size fit perfect. (It all depends on if you want to show a little ankle or not.) They run true to size. Comparable to Express sizing. I wear size 10 in Express pants so I ordered a size 10. They are a perfect fit.
